{"id":14604,"date":"2006-03-01T00:17:39","date_gmt":"2006-02-28T23:17:39","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/wordpress-98520-280723.cloudwaysapps.com\/electroqueer_sp-4\/"},"modified":"2006-03-01T00:17:39","modified_gmt":"2006-02-28T23:17:39","slug":"electroqueer_sp-4","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/eqmusicblog.com\/electroqueer_sp-4\/","title":{"rendered":"Electroqueer Spotlight On: Phixx"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img decoding=\"async\" border=\"0\" alt=\"Newspic2273_2\" title=\"Newspic2273_2\" src=\"http:\/\/zxlcreative.blogs.com\/photos\/uncategorized\/newspic2273_2.jpg\" style=\"margin: 0px 5px 5px 0px; float: left;\" \/>Every so once in awhile, a boy band comes along that makes us jump with excitement.&nbsp; What is it?&nbsp; Their good voices?&nbsp; Their good looks?&nbsp; Nope&#8230;not at all &#8211; It just so happens that <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/www.phixx.co.uk\"><strong>Phixx<\/strong><\/a> have a knack for creating good 80&#8217;s inspired electro tracks that stand out amongst other boy band mediocracy.&nbsp; Blending a mix of retro, pop, melody and sexuality (band members Andrew Kinlochan and Nikk Mager are openly gay), Phixx certainly are an undiscovered gem.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Phixx<\/strong> first came to our attention last year when they launched their debut single <strong>&#8216;Hold On Me&#8217;<\/strong> which was a UK top 10 hit.&nbsp; It was later followed by &#8216;Love Revolution&#8217; &#8211; a track that blended a sample of <strong>Depeche Mode&#8217;s &#8216;Enjoy The Silence&#8217;<\/strong> mixed with 80&#8217;s hair band flair.&nbsp; It was an audio delight, but the nail was hit on the head when their video portrayed them as sexy underground vampires.&nbsp; We haven&#8217;t seen bravado like that in a long time!&nbsp; The singles <strong>&#8216;Wild Boys&#8217;<\/strong> (a solid <strong>Duran Duran<\/strong> cover) and <strong>&#8216;Strange Love&#8217; <\/strong>followed and it seems we have now seen the last of <strong>Phixx<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Now we all know to expect boy bands to break up (unless you are living cash cows like <strong>Westlife<\/strong>), but we are holding a special good luck charm for <strong>Phixx<\/strong> that they will sustain the long haul as they are in our opinion &#8211; way ahead of their time.&nbsp; <\/p>\n<p><strong>Phixx&#8217;s<\/strong> album <strong>&#8216;Electrophonic Revolution&#8217;<\/strong> is a bit hard to find as it was only released in South Africa but their first four singles are easy to find on Amazon UK.&nbsp; If you are lucky to snag a copy of thier album, you will treated to a couple other brilliant Phixx songs like <strong>&#8216;Voyeur&#8217;<\/strong> and <strong>&#8216;Let&#8217;s Go All The Way&#8217;<\/strong> (another brill 80&#8217;s cover).<\/p>\n<p>For a look at <strong>Phixx<\/strong> in action &#8211; check out the video to <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/uk.music.yahoo.com\/ar-308041-videos--Phixx\"><strong>&#8216;Love Revolution&#8217;<\/strong><\/a> and you&#8217;ll see what we mean.&nbsp; <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Every so once in awhile, a boy band comes along that makes us jump with excitement.&nbsp; What is it?&nbsp; Their good voices?&nbsp; Their good looks?&nbsp; Nope&#8230;not at all &#8211; It just so happens that Phixx have a knack for creating good 80&#8217;s inspired electro tracks that stand out amongst other boy band mediocracy.&nbsp; Blending a [&hellip;]<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":1,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"closed","ping_status":"closed","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[8],"tags":[],"class_list":["post-14604","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-interviews"],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v25.6 -
