How are you all holding up in lockdown?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sadly, due to COVID-19, SXSW<\/strong> and the BFI Flare<\/strong> film festivals were cancelled this year. But in the midst of this terrible global pandemic, both film festivals bounced back as quickly as they could to provide accredited festival goers with as much content as they could for us to watch online. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

BFI Flare<\/strong> amazingly redirected some of their films to their BFI Player subscription service<\/strong><\/a> which allowed festival-goers to watch some key LGBTQ+ films that the festival featured over the past couple of years. I quickly became a member too as I found their swift response to the pandemic to be quite impressive given the circumstances. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

For the press, we were given exclusive access to a few of the BFI Flare world premieres that were scheduled. One of those films was The Lawyer<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Lawyer<\/strong> tells the story of an affluent gay corporate lawyer Marius (Eimutis Kvo\u0161\u010diauska<\/strong>s), who spends his time hosting dinner parties, enjoying art and chasing young lovers. One day, Marius\u2019 estranged father dies. His mourning then turns to love as the finds an unexpected connection with a sex-cam worker named Ali (Do\u011fa\u00e7 Yildiz<\/strong>) \u2013 a bisexual Syrian refugee stuck in Belgrade.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
