{"id":33869,"date":"2023-04-06T11:22:40","date_gmt":"2023-04-06T10:22:40","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/eqmusicblog.com\/?p=33869"},"modified":"2023-04-06T11:23:47","modified_gmt":"2023-04-06T10:23:47","slug":"sxsw-boys-on-film-air","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/eqmusicblog.com\/sxsw-boys-on-film-air\/","title":{"rendered":"Boys On Film @ SXSW: Air"},"content":{"rendered":"<span class=\"cb-itemprop\" itemprop=\"reviewBody\">\n<p>If there was a theme to this year&#8217;s <strong>SXSW Film &amp; TV Festival<\/strong>, it definitely was the story of &#8220;products&#8221;. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>From the story of the creation of <strong>Flamin&#8217; Hot<\/strong> Cheetos, to the <strong>Blackberry<\/strong> and even the cloak and dagger escapades of the creation of <strong>Tetris<\/strong> &#8211; SXSW knows what is going to capture the zeitgeist in 2023. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I was lucky enough to get into <strong>Air<\/strong>, the closing night film of SXSW this year and let me tell you &#8211; it&#8217;s an absolute gem of a film. Being able to be in the room with<strong> Ben Affleck<\/strong>, <strong>Matt Damon<\/strong>, <strong>Viola Davis<\/strong>, <strong>Jason Bateman<\/strong> and the rest of the insanely talented cast was such a treat &#8211; I&#8217;ll never forget it. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Peep my review below&#8230;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Directed by <strong>Ben Affleck<\/strong>, <strong>Air<\/strong> is probably the greatest product marketing story ever told about the greatest basketball shoes ever made by the legend, <strong>Michael Jordan<\/strong>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"AIR Movie Review SXSW 2023 \u2729 Ben Affleck, Viola Davis - Boys On Film\" width=\"1200\" height=\"675\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/swbjRqh3ByA?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Correction:<\/strong> And yes, I&#8217;m fully aware I made a mistake in saying that it&#8217;s being distributed by Apple TV, I had <strong>Tetris<\/strong> on the brain. But hey, you try seeing 20 movies in 10 days and then wake up at 9am to do reviews. The exhausted look on my face and my puffy eyes says it all. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Air <\/strong>is being distributed through <strong>Amazon<\/strong>, hitting cinemas first, but expect this drop on <strong>Amazon Prime Video <\/strong>sometime soon after it&#8217;s cinema run.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Need more convincing to go see this in the cinema<\/strong>? Rajan is a dual citizen of the US and the UK and has lived in London since the summer of 2000. He created EQ Music as a passion project from the ground up having interviewed some of the biggest names in pop like Lady Gaga, Sia, Mika, Kelis, Robyn and every member of the Scissor Sisters. EQ Music is one of the UK's longest running influential pop blogs, regularly hosting showcase nights for emerging and established pop acts in the British capital. Rajan is also a full-time digital tech professional working at Warner Bros.
