It is Independent Venue Week. Unfortunately however, we hear about arts and music venue closures all to often but some parts of the UK are bucking the trend. Therefore, I thought today would be a good opportunity to speak something about my personal experience of this.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I am genuinely thrilled to witness the resurgence of my local music scene in Ipswich, especially as it continues to flourish in the post-pandemic landscape. This revitalization is evident in the rise of independent venues and creative spaces. Along with the annual two-day music festival “Brighten The Corners<\/strong>,” which brilliantly showcases both local talents and emerging artists. It’s something I have eagerly anticipated for as long as I can remember.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

During the 2024 “Brighten The Corners<\/strong>” festival, I seized the opportunity to experience the incredible local duo Esme Emerson<\/strong>, who is making significant strides in the indie-pop genre. I’ve become enamoured with these talented siblings. In fact, I was so excited to see them that I made a special trip out across town purely to catch their brief yet captivating afternoon set, at St. Stephens Church<\/strong>. (Bearing in mind, the other bands I wanted to see that day, had slots much later that evening). This was a must-see performance, that did not disappoint! <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Esme Emerson is truly making waves with their eclectic mix of lyrically rich indie-alt-pop sounds, capturing the attention of many respected tastemakers, including myself. They’ve landed impressive support slots for well-known acts like Keane<\/a><\/strong>, Japanese House<\/strong>, and Good Neighbours<\/strong>. Thus speaks volumes about their rising popularity. As they kick off 2025, with a new track titled “Too Far Gone<\/strong>” from their newly announced sophomore EP, “Applesauce<\/strong>.” This release will lead into their first UK headline tour in April<\/a><\/strong>, which I\u2019m sure will be an exciting milestone for the band!<\/p>\n\n\n\n\"Listen<\/a>\n\n\n\n
