Now, we don’t know whether or not all of them were released officially in 2005, but we used our best judegment. Regardless, these were the tracks that got our iPod rockins this past year. Most all of them are available to download on iTunes and we hope you enjoy them as much as we did!

1. I Like The Way – Darren Hayes
Darren’s album ‘The Tension and The Spark’ was hugely underated last year and in our opinion, deserved a lot more recognition than it got. We at ElectroQueer love Darren to bits.

2. Breathe Me – Sia
You may recognise this track from the final closing scene from Six Feet Under. If you have a chance, pick up Sia’s album ‘Colour the Small One’ – it’s amazing.

3. Ride It – Tiffany
Simply the BEST track from Tiffany’s latest dance album ‘Dust Off and Dance’ which was released a few months ago on CDNow and iTunes. Quite a few good dance tracks on it.

4. Good Guys – Arabella Rodriguez
Arabella’s album ‘Strange Blue Breakfast’ has been causing quite a stir among electronic music forums as of lately. ‘Good Guys’ is a stunning track which features the smoky vocals of Sylvia Powell whom is also finishing up her second solo album.

5. Since U Been Gone – Kelly Clarkson
Everyone just loves this little rock anthem from Kelly and in most people’s minds, this WAS the Record of the Year.

6. Somebody Told Me – The Killers
Did you catch the electro moment after the chorus. WE LOVE IT and we love The Killers.

7. One Word – Kelly Osbourne
Another highly underated electro effort this past year was Kelly Osbourne’s ‘Sleeping in the Nothing’ album. Every track pays homage to the electro gods of yesteryear. We also love her track, ‘Don’t Touch Me When I’m Sleeping’.

8. What You Waiting For – Gwen Stefani
We like Gwen’s album a lot, but this track is stunning. We couldn’t get it out of our heads at all this year!

9. Drop the Pressure – Mylo
Mylo’s debut album was a must-own for any electro fan this year and was even remixed with Miami Sound Machine’s ‘Dr. Beat’ and Scissor Sister’s ‘Comfortably Numb’. We love Mylo’s new single too, ‘Muscle Car’.

10. Fast Car – Kristian Leontiou
A remake of the timeless hit by Tracy Chapman. Kristian had quite a few hits last year including ‘Story of My Life’, ‘Shining’ and ‘Some Say’ but ‘Fast Car’ is our favourite.

11. Disconnected – Lindsay Lohan
We love L.Lo here at ElectroQueer. Despite being a teen queen and tabloid diva, she does make some good rockin pop. We’ll take Lindsay over Britney, Hilary and Jessica any day.

12. I Like The Way – The Bodyrockers
Yes, if you’re American, this song was in that pepsi or coke commerical. But before the song got sold-out to the beverage underworld, it was a HUGE hit here in the UK. The Bodyrocker’s self-titled debut album is pretty good too – check it out.

13. These Words – Natasha Bedingfield
We can’t get enough of this track. So original and quirky. It was a HUGE number one in the UK and we are glad Natasha is getting a little airplay success in the states.

14. Inside Out – Second Sun
We bought their album because of the duet with Tiffany, but accidently found ourseleves in electro heaven. One of the best accidents we had this last year!

15. Filthy/Gorgeous – Scissor Sisters
If you aren’t a fan of the Scissor Sisters, you shouldn’t even be reading this blog. If you haven’t bought their PHENOMINAL debut album yet, order it right now, you won’t be disappointed.

16. Crazy – Alanis Morisette
Now this was a suprise to all of us. We love Alanis’ remake of this Seal classic. You can find a few good remixes of this track on iTunes as well.

17. Kinda Love – Darius
A Beatles inspired pop ditty that we couldn’t get out of our heads this last year as well. We were suprised to hear this being played at a GAP in New York City as Darius really hasn’t attempted to make the UK/US crossover yet.

18. Get Together – Madonna
The best track of of Madonna’s new album ‘Confessions on a Dancefloor’. We like it better than ‘Hung Up’ and her new single ‘Sorry’.

19. How To Be Dead – Snow Patrol
Very moving lyrics and melody. We aren’t a huge fan of their ‘Final Straw’ album, but this track is definitley worth downloading.

20. Looking For Water – Alex Parks
Our favourite lesbian vocalist of the bunch. Alex Parks has a voice that makes you sit up and listen. We often have thought how awesome Alex Parks would be as an opening act for Sarah McLachlan.

21. Crazy – Andy Bell
A HOT Erasure-esque track from Andy Bell’s first solo album which was recently released.

22. Precious – Depeche Mode
The DM boys are back with this unforgetable track from their new album ‘Playing the Angel’. Make sure to check out the boys on their current European tour in which they’ll be doing a nice helping of old DM classics including ‘Just Can’t Get Enough’

23. Somebody Help Me – Full Blown Rose
The theme song from cancelled TV show Tru Calling. It totally rocks our iPods over here and is available to download from iTunes.

24. Number 1 – Goldfrapp
Can Goldfrapp do any wrong? If you don’t own any Goldfrapp records, you really should go out and buy them all up right now.

25. Shut Up (Hook Up) – Jason Downs
Not too many people actually know Jason Downs but this track had a hook that had us singing along quite merrily this past year. It’s a cool little song about how how much he really doesn’t like his girlfriend.

25. All Day Long I Dream About Sex – JC Chavez
Do you really JC? Regardless, we love your little electro track which was a great find on your last album ‘Schizophrenic’.

27. Love Revolution – Phixx
Boy Band who will probably be dropped from their label soon, but this track made us pee our pants. Think of 80’s rock mixed with a Depeche Mode. Add a video which has the boys acting out vampiric fantasy and you have the perfect combination. Long live Phixx.

28. Looking For A New Love 05 – Jody Watley
Jody – you’re re-release of your classic 80s hit had us happily forking out 99 cents for all of the remixes. Now, re-release a hot new version of ‘Don’t You Want Me’ and we would love you forever.

29. Oh My God – Kaiser Chiefs
You couldn’t escape the Kaiser Cheifs in the UK this last year. This song is the best of their critically-acclaimed ‘Employment’ album.

30. Hey Ya – Will Young
Yes, this is a B-side on his ‘Friday’s Child’ single, but well worth buying. Oh, and Yes, it is a downtempo remake of the Outkast song and quite frankly, we like Will Young’s version much better.

Well there you are – that’s it. Go and get downloading all these great tracks from iTunes (or your other preffered digital service) and let us know if you like our recommendations. ElectroQueer is dedicated to keeping you informed of all the cool music that is out there.

To ring in the new year, we thought it would be fun to share with you our Top 30 pop and electro tracks of 2005.
